This policy explains the cookies and similar technology used on tillable.app and in the Tillable service, and how you can control them. Read it alongside our privacy policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website saves in your browser so that it can recognise your browser later. Websites can also save information in your browser's local or session storage, which works in a similar way. This policy calls all of these cookies.
Some cookies are strictly necessary: a website or service cannot work properly without them, so it does not need your consent to use them. Others, such as analytics and advertising cookies, are not essential.
2. Our website
Our website at tillable.app uses no advertising cookies. It sets analytics cookies only if you accept them.
The first time you visit, we ask whether you accept analytics cookies. If you accept, we load Google Tag Manager, which runs Google Analytics. If you reject them, or do not answer, neither loads and nothing is sent to Google.
- tillable-analytics-consent (strictly necessary). Saved in your browser's local storage, it records your answer and when you gave it, so that we do not ask on every page. We ask again after a year.
- _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID (analytics, only if you accept). Google Analytics uses them to tell visits apart and to count the pages viewed in each one. They last up to two years.
You can change your answer at any time with Cookie settings, at the bottom of our web pages. If you change it to reject, we delete the analytics cookies and stop loading Google Analytics.
The website also uses your browser's session storage for one thing, and only when something goes wrong:
- tillable-chunk-reload (strictly necessary). If part of a page fails to load just after we release an update, the website reloads the page once to fetch the new version. This item records when it last did that, so that the page cannot keep reloading. It is deleted when you close the tab.
Some pages include videos hosted by Vimeo. They play with Vimeo's do-not-track setting switched on, which stops the player tracking your visit, including with cookies.
Our website links to other websites. They have their own cookie policies.
3. The Tillable portal
When you sign in to the Tillable portal at pos.tillable.app, it uses:
- Sign-in and security cookies (strictly necessary). They keep you signed in, protect your account and control access to private areas. They last until you sign out or your session ends.
- Device cookies (strictly necessary). When you connect a kitchen display screen, a cookie links that screen to your business so that it can show your orders.
- Settings saved in your browser (strictly necessary). For example, whether a panel on your kitchen display is open.
- An analytics cookie. PostHog sets a cookie so that we can understand how the portal is used and find problems. It lasts up to a year. Section 2 of our privacy policy explains what PostHog records.
Errors in the portal are recorded by Sentry, which does not use cookies.
4. Pages we run for businesses
Businesses that use Tillable can offer online ordering, table bookings, gift cards and online shops through pages we run for them. On those pages we use no analytics cookies and record no sessions. If you order, your basket is saved in your browser's local storage for up to two hours, so that it is still there if you reload the page. The business's own privacy information applies to those pages.
5. If we change the cookies we use
We ask for your consent before we set analytics cookies on our website. If we ever want to use advertising cookies, we will ask for your consent to those separately, and update this policy first.
6. Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the service will not work, including signing in to the portal. Your browser's help pages explain how:
