Staff roles
Applied on device modes that require staff sign-in.
- Named roles and individual permissions
- Separate refund and void controls
- Discount choices for each role
- Device settings and till admin access
The person taking orders may need different controls from the person closing up. Name the roles your team uses, choose their permissions and assign a role to each member of staff.

Applied on device modes that require staff sign-in.
Settings for the people working on your tills.
Create a named role, select its permissions and assign it to staff. Required sign-in applies those choices on the till; the device’s mode still sets which features are available.
Set separate permissions for cash payments, splitting a bill, part payments, refunds, voiding items and printing receipts. Card payments do not have a separate role checkbox.
Allow discounts for the role, then select the discounts it can use. Turn that permission off to remove them all.
Choose access to the cash drawer, reports, kitchen controls and other till administration sections. These choices are distinct from portal access.
A staff role describes the actions a person can take. Site and section assignments describe where they work. A device mode controls the features on that till.
Switch it on for the modes where staff restrictions should apply. Optional sign-in on an open mode records who served without enforcing their role’s restrictions.
Enable it on the mode and give authorised roles the Staff override permission. An online PIN check lends the manager’s permissions until the sale ends.
A staff passcode is for the till. It does not give someone a portal login. Discuss portal access separately from the roles your staff use during service.
Use staff roles at the till, sections on the floor plan and a rota for the working week.
No. The device’s mode must require staff sign-in. Optional sign-in on an open mode records who served, but staff can still use everything that mode allows.
No. A staff role and PIN are for the till; they do not create a portal login. Talk to us about the portal access available for your account.
For the rest of the sale, until it is paid, closed or cleared. It also ends on staff sign-out or device restart. This lends the manager’s permissions; it is not a separate approval for every action. Starting an override requires an internet connection.
Yes. Assign staff to one site or all sites, and select their floor-plan sections. Table visibility follows those sections when the device’s mode requires staff sign-in.
Yes. Set an inactivity timer for the till. It does not interrupt an open bill, payment or pop-up. This setting applies to the till, not handhelds or portal users.
No. Staff roles control work on the till. Tell us what your agent needs to read or change so we can go through access for that connection.
